What is Informal Avocados?

Informal Avocados is a gratitude system that gives awesome people points that they can use to order avocados and other fruit from our online store.

How do I get avocados?

You can get avocados by spending your points in our online store. If you have received an email informing you that you’ve been awarded points, then log into the website using that email address. If you don’t know your password, click “reset your password” and a new one will be sent to the email address we have on file. Once you’re logged into the site, you’ll see the amount of points you have on the right hand sidebar. To spend your points, go to the Redeem page, pick what you want, and go through the very standard checkout process.

How do I get points?

Most users receive points via email because they did something awesome and/or nice. You can also earn points by submitting proof that you performed tasks and activities listed on the Earn page. To submit proof you have to first register for an account. You cannot purchase points.

What am I supposed to do with 50 avocados?

Here’s a list of some of the many ways you can eat avocados, and here’s another one that also explores some non-culinary uses. (We can’t necessarily endorse them all, but encourage you to get creative & let us know if you stumble on anything you’d recommend.) If you’re feeling generous, consider hosting a guacamole party or giving some of the avocados to your friends and neighbors. If you want to preserve the avocados, you can keep them in the fridge or even freeze them — just remember to cut them in half first. Feel free to send pictures of whatever use you come up with to admin@informalavocados.org.

Who runs this website?

This website is administered by Sarapis, a nonprofit organization, as part of its “collaborative economy” work.

Avocado season is over so we won't be sending any more out for a while. Come back in February 2017. We should have more by then. Thanks!
